eBenefits is a portal; a central location for Veterans, Service Members, plus all their families to research, find, access, and, in time, manage their own benefits & personal information.

Is the eBenefits Portal secure?
The eBenefits internet site uses Secure Sockets Layer (S..L) technology, now Transport Layer Security (TLS), a communications protocol that provides security for communications over networks such as the Internet. SSL & TLS encrypt network connections end-to-end. eBenefits.Va.Gov

eBenefits sometimes accesses DoD internet sites to support account creation, logging in, and displaying service information. DoD uses strong security certificates that are not available elsewhere and are sometimes not recognized by Web browsers that are usually configured to recognize commercial certificates like those used for online shopping. Your own browser will alert you to an unknown security certificate. When you see this, double-check which the browser is attempting to reach a DoD system (the URL will always end with a .mil), and instruct your browser that this is OK. eBenefits.Va.Gov

As always, when accessing your eBenefits account from a public location, use caution when entering or viewing personal information, & always remember to log-out & close the browser window when you’re finished.

You first need to register with the DOD, when you hit the register button it will take you to the DOD page to establish your user name and password. Once you do this you go back to eBenefits.Va.Gov and log in and you are at level 1 where you can see basic information.

To see your claims info & other personal info you need to take 2 pieces of ID that has a picture, ID number and issuance date to your regional office. Your V.A health card will not work (ask me how I know!). They would then raise you to level 2 where you may see everything.
